Ok guys, i got a few questions for ya. I know everyones opinion is a little different about this stuff, but i just want to see how every one else maintains thier car.

1) How often do you change your oil/filter?

2) How often do you check/refresh your cooling system?

3) How often do you check/change your spark plugs?

4) How about you cap, rotor, and wires?

5) How often do you check/grease your chasis?

6) How often do you CHECK your oil and tranny fluid?

my answers

1-every 3000 miles

2-once a year

3-I usually forget

4-same as 3

5-Hardy ever

6-weekly

Now how about you guys?

I'm not sure if this goes in this forum, but this is why I put it here. I think that with the different types of induction(carb, tbi, tpi...) that you could see different wear on some parts, such as the plugs, and the rest of the ignition system. And I was just curious about the rest of them.

I highly doubt that changing your induction would change part wear, but whatever.

1) 3K miles, Kendall GT-1, WIX filter, like friggin clockwork.

2) Check the level every time I check the oil, flush it every couple of years.

3) Whenever I notice an engine problem that might be related.

4) Same.

5) Every six months, usually at the begining and end of Summer, when the weather around here is conductive to me laying in the driveway for a bit.

6) Weekly.

1) 4-5Kish probably unless I'm doing heavy racing.
2) I peek at the system every few days since I'm under the hood, but unless I'm overheating or it's been more than a month then I don't make a special check for coolant.
3) I've never had a car more than 5K miles so I don't know when I'd change them.
4) Same as above.
5) No squeaks, no worries.
6) Probably every other week. Like I said, Im always under the hood so I just check out of curiosity.

1) How often do you change your oil/filter?
3 months

2) How often do you check/refresh your cooling system?
Check at every fill up, refresh once per year (assuming normal driving, 10,000 miles, etc.)

3) How often do you check/change your spark plugs?
I just put in Bosch platinums, so hopefully not often. Check once per year or when engine problem emerges

4) How about you cap, rotor, and wires?
At every tuneup, which if you use the right parts should be 30,000 miles+

5) How often do you check/grease your chasis?
Every oil change

6) How often do you CHECK your oil and tranny fluid?
Every fillup

Okay, which plugs are gonna be in better shape for longer?

Set 1, is in a Tuned port motor with a rich factory A/F ratio

set 2 is in a motor with a well adjusted carb

set 3 is in a car that the owner piled mods on with out an chip work

How would they not be different?

The variable is the owner, not the induction. A carb, TPI, or TBI could all be modded, it all depends on what the owner does to compensate for mods.

Josh is right, it's all in how you run it. Simply having a carb on your car doesn't mean you have to change your plugs more often, but if you run it way to rich, then yeah, you will foul your plugs.

thats exactly what i was saying, obviosly, the mixture is gonna change througout the RPM with a carb diferent than it will with EFI, and chances are, everyones car isn't "tuned to perfection"

Besides, that isn't even what this thread is about, I'm just seeing when everyone give thier car a mechanical checkup
