do all 3rd gens lose power when hot?
i wasn't sure where to post this
im running stock thermostat believe its 195
my car runs around 190-200 rarely gets past 220 lo3 305 with tpi swap
after driving my girlfriends 95 grand prix 3.1 it runs around 210 all the time
ive noticed it its performance is the same regardless of temps from 0-260
but my camaro seems the run worse the hotter it gets
she also has a 96 firebird 3.8 it reacts the same way to operating temp no notice able power loss when hot
even at the track hot lapping either car times where all about the same with in 3 tenths
but my car runs noticeable slower when hot above 180
now what ive seen so far is tpi isn't as bad as tbi was with this issue but its still there
is it something in the ecm that once the cars are warmed up say 190-200 that timing or air fuel is changed
im just trying to figure out why the 2 newer cars "both with higher mileage then my car" seem to not be very effected by higher engine temps
ive even noticed the exhaust tone sounds different once the camaro running around 200 its not as aggressive sounding but if run the ac fan to cool the car off when driving down to 170 power and the aggressive exhaust tone come right back
ive also drove a vortec 305 pickup that didn't have this issue ran the same regardless of temps
my fathers 89 iroc has the same issue and has 27k miles on it so i know its not just my car
even my 92 v6 firebird has this same exact problem but yet uses a 3.1 v6 same as the grand prix
im just wondering if its in the programing of the prom like dose temp effect timing or fuel i really cant see what else would do it
i tried running a 170 stat but it didnt change anything
or is it because the 3rd gen proms dont compansate for higher engine temps?
