How do I get the pressure out of the fuel lines?

I was just wondering how to get the fuel pressure out of my fuel lines before I pull the engine out. I know the normal procedure is to pull the fuse, and crank till it wont start anymore, but the engine is siezed (rod bearing i think) and I cant turn it. I am hoping there is another safe way to relieve the fuel pressure. Will it bleed off if I just turn the the car on for a while and not crank it? I hope so becuase my new engine will be at my house soon and I am really anxious to pull this L98 out of there.
Thanks,
Mike

Pull the gas cap off, let it sit for an hour, and bleed pressure off of the schrader valve on the fuel rail.

When I find this schrader valve, is it gonna spray gas anywhere? Will I need to have some kind of container ready and some gloves and goggles? I just want to be ready for any kind of gas spray or anything that there is.
Thanks

Yeah it'll spray fuel at you. I would recommend taking out the fuel pump fuse or disconnecting at the tank, and then run it till it dies. Crank on it for a few seconds to get most of the fuel out of the lines.
THEN do the schrader valve, it will still spurt fuel, but more of a dribble instead of a spray. Just put a rag over the valve and press the tip with screwdriver.
Or do whatever comes easiest.
good luck.

I cant crank the engine becuase the engine is siezed up. Is it safe to let the pressure out by letting it spray?

Yeah man, it's safe and all. How long has it been since your engine ran last? Chances are if its been a few days or so, the pressure has already bled off.
I would still try the schrader valve though, some systems bleed off faster than others.
I would still be ready with a rag just in case.
good luck

Hey thanks for the responses. I let sit sit for a couple of days with the gas cap off and then unscrewed the valve a little. Hardly anything came out.
Thanks
