odd question
i was taking apart my intake to paint it when i noticed that on the bottom of the intake toward the back there are 2 looking ports that seemed to be welded shut or something. i want to know why this would have been done and what it is for?? ( junk yard L98, 1988 .040 over )

Re: odd question
you probably had the wrong intake gaskets on the car or a previous owner did
somehow I would weld those indentions flat and grind it smooth then put the right gaskets on

Re: odd question
that is were the water crosover would be in the front. because the heads dont care what bank of the engine you put them they have the passages at both ends. They tend to get eaten away there from age and poor attention to collant condition. it looks bad and may cause a coolant leak so it may need to be welded and ground to prevent that (hard to say from pics).
