Questions about MSD 6 series ignition box

I just added a msd 6al and a msd high voltage coil and i feel no freakin differance in terms of performance. Why is that. My main objectives were to pull the car to 5000 rpms without feeling ignition failure, also my tach cuts out dead at about 4000 rpms but once i drop back below that it kicks back on. I just spent about 300 bucks on this and it really sucks. I have tons of various mods and this seems to suck out for me, could there be a problem of some sort?

Did you upgrade your wires, cap and coil? The spark has to get through, unimpeded. Also what is your plug gap? MSD recommended .050 to .055 with my MSD6AL. The added power allows a bigger gap, and thus a larger flame. A little more timing may be in order also.

Well my plugs are only like 2months old, there Rapid fires and the gap is only .O35, Will taking them out to .050 or .055 make a difference? And the whole distributor is only 3 weeks old is a MSD replacement, brand new and the wires have about 6 months on them but there the msd 8.5 wires. Is it true that the thing need 4 hours of break in time? Overall it feels like stock

hmmm....I was thinking about gettin a MSD box as well...

I think Ill wait and see how things work for you...
