Fan confusion!!
My cooling fans are no cooperating. At first I thought I had the wrong sensor, went down to NAPA and got one that is a 213* one (for the passenger side head) The car will happily go right up and over 240* and no fans. They turn on and off with the A/C. I know the drivers side one works, it comes on with I bridge the ADAL. I have a ghetto rig for the wire connecting the fan switch (the origional broke when I took off the manifold) and it is possible it is loose. I shut the engine off but left the key in the on position, I wiggled the wire and a min later the passenger side fan kicked on. But I thought the fan switch controled the drivers side fan.
I am using the stock dash gauge to get the temp, which I know isnt all that accurate, but how far off could it possibly be? (I don't feel like running the engine to 260* to find out.)
Thanks guys... I tought I knew how the fan system worked, but I guess not.

On my 91, the passenger fan is only operated by the cool fan switch located on the passenger side of the block. The driver side fan has 2 relays. One relay is when the AC line pressure gets to a certain level (in other words, when a "working" ac system is turned on) also it will come on when the AC is off and the temp gets to 236* (ECM controlled I think). Just do what I did........ I bought a jet cool fan switch from summit that turns on at ~180 and turns off at ~160. Then I cut the driver side fan wires and spliced the hot wire to the hot wire on the passeger side fan, and then splice the ground into the passenger side ground that way both fans are operated by the cool fan switch and both come on at the same time. NO MORE cooling problems. On a HOT day with the AC on sitting in traffic, the car never gets above 185 or so! PERFECT!
