need advice please
Hello all,
My gta is finally running pretty good with the exception of the common smoke
at start up due to the valve seals.
I am going to use some of my tax return to replace the stock heads and put a
bettery intake manifold on it.
I was thinking about and would have some money to change the timing chain.
The car has well over 130,000 miles (odometer doesn't work), and I was wondering whether or not I should replace the timing chain as I am doing the other things???
I also plan to throw a set of headers on the engine to boot.
Advice/suggestions/comments please.
Thanks.

If you're going that far into it, I'd probably change the cam, timing set, lifters, and so on. But that's just me. "While you're at it's" can turn a quick affordable project into your own personal Vietnam if you don't know where to start and stop.

Don't really want to throw a "whole lot" of money into this 20 year old engine
as my supervisor has a 383 in his garage with less than 5000 miles on it.
Said he would sell it to my for 1300.
The main reason for the changes are that my car had an overheating problem
and I am wondering if I warped the heads. I drove the car about 6 or 7 times
and pegged the temp gauge to max. Let the car cool down and got home. Had to make sure the engine had coolant in it as much as possible until I fixed the malfunctioning fans.
I just want to get a few more years out of this engine unless I get lucky and
am able to save to get a brand new crate engine with 400 horses out of the box.
