granatelli adjustable MAF adjustment procedure?

I know most say this is junk, but it came with my CAI and I'd like to judge for myself if it's any good - after all, even if adjusted to stock it should flow better.

So mine came with no instructions and who knows what setting it was at. I hooked it up and started datalogging at idle. Gradually turning the screw didn't do much and I only saw slight differences in GMS and S and L term counts - seemed find at idle. I got it where I was at 128 for L term and took it out and it was dying all over the place. I can't find instructions anywhere and there's nothing about it on Granatelli's site. Any ideas before I give up in it?

Had same problem with mine ,there are no instructions anywhere.
Never saw any major changes in datalogs turning adjust screw
Only kept it because I figured it had better air flow due to lack of heat sink in flow path
