89 Iroc not want to start

Hello guys, i have been out of the 3er Gen for over 15 years now. I bought this 89 Iroc 5.0 t5. The car have a problem of rough idle and not want to accelerate over 3k rpm it start to fail. I feel that one injector was not working and they are the original ones.I decided to put a set of new set injectors and a new afr from South Bay and new ac delco spark plugs and new fuel filter. The problem was solved the car idle very nice and accelerate good with no problem. Them after 3 days the problem stated again. In the first start in the morning works good but after like 20 min. of driving the problem started, it won't go over 3k RPMs. I checked the fuel pressure and when i put the gauge with the switch in ON have 42 psi and start dropping to 20psi after 20 seconds with the engine off. Went back the switch turn off and on again i hear the fuel pump and fuel pressure do the same thing.
Now the long story short yesterday night i was driving this car and i stop in a traffic light, i started running the car when i put 3 er gear the car died on me in the flight. With the travel i let car roll to the front of a residence. The car have been towed to my house. This morning i started to try find the problem.
I tried to start the engine but it not fire up.I took the #1 spark plug wire out of the distributor cap turn the engine and is no spark jumping. Them to try to eliminate possible problems this are the test i have done.

1- I know i have new injectors but i checked ohms all are 16.0
2- Cranked the motor for a few seconds and is gas in the spark plugs so i assume have gas.
3-with a test light i have current in the ignition coil conector but not current to the distributor. So i changed the ignition coil and still do not have spark in the spark plugs wires.

What I need to check in order the have spark in the distributor? Any help going to be appreciated.

Re: 89 Iroc not want to start

I'm having a similar issue right now. Was driving down the road at about 55mph in my 89 5.0L TPI and the engine stalled. No spark is jumping so I replaced the ignition coil, nothing... distributor cap/rotor, nothing. I'm not the most handy mechanic do I think I'm going to have to put it in the shop. I'll post here again with what they find.

Re: 89 Iroc not want to start

Update
I went to the fuse box and all of the fuses are good.
Them i checked the pink wire that goes to the coil and have 11.86 volt and the pink wire that goes to the distributor and have 12 volt on the distributor and still no spark in the distributor cap. I think it can be a bad module.
But any opinion before i started buying parts is appreciated guys.

Re: 89 Iroc not want to start

I did notice a bit of smoke rising from where the distributor sits. I wonder if I had a wiring harness die or maybe the distributor itself just burned up.

Re: 89 Iroc not want to start

If you saw smoke from that area and is wiring you have to notice burning wires are simple view. But if the distributor burned i not think it going to make any smoke. Smoke can coming out of a short cut or probably some drop oil dripping in the exhaust.

Re: 89 Iroc not want to start

UPDATE: I've finally received word from the mechanic and they are all but certain that it is a faulty ignition module that's giving me the trouble. They said they had a few more tests to do but, it sounds like I'll have it on the road soon.
