I went to Mat's Speed Shop today and talked to him about shift kits......and he was telling me that he liked Transgo but noticed that the Hughes kit is basically the same and easier to install, he mentioned that Transgo changes alot of stuff and the instructions are hard to understand.....he also mentioned Art Car (spelling) parts for the tranny...can some tranny gurus help me out here and explain these things?.....AARON


p.s. he said that the Corvette Servo is hard to install and won't fit?

There are alot of companies out there that make shift kits, but the most popular are B&M and TransGo. My shift kit is made by the same company that supplied all the rebuild parts, Superior. I had never heard of them, but the guy that rebuilt my transmission said he's used theire parts for years and has never had a problem. Its still working great, and shifting great. Also, he installed a corvette servo. It will fit, and its not very hard to do with the transmission out of the car. I have heard that its possible with the transmission in the car, but I would not want to try it.

Like Ward said it just depends. In My car I have a transgo kit and I like it, yes its complicated to install compared to other kits because it reprograms the valve body. I had a shop build me a 700r4 for my hybred elcamaro, they used A superior kit and it shifted great also a bit firmer all around shifts at light throttle.
