OK, let me try this one on you all, for the 1987 Chevy Camaro.

The Chevy 700r4 four speed automatic with overdrive.

I used to have a vibe at 2500 rpm with engine in park, but that is gone now that I took off the A/C belt.

Recently, put in new alternator, battery, spark plug wires, coil.

Now when I have car in OverDrive (OD), there is a violent pulsing vibration that gets more intense above 70 MPH, don't have exact rpm at that speed, but around 2000 to 2200.

When car is in Drive (D) and at the same speed (higher rpm), and at the same rpm range (2000-2200, and lower speed) the vibe does not occur.

The torque converter is a Transtar 2500, model number not known, but I assume it has a lockup mechanism.

Now, I am confused about the lockup and Torque Converter Clutch (TCC).

Do all Torque Converters come with a TCC and the transmission selenoid activates the TCC?

Could a non-locking TCC due to bad selenoid cause the vibes, and if so, why?

If this is a non-locking TC and the selenoid is trying to make it lockup would that cause the vibe?

Does the tranny go into fourth gear and then OD or is the fourth gear the OD?

I think this goes right into lockup as soon as it hits fourth (OD) since the ECM tries to go to lockup over 40 mph when fourth is engaged?

This is very confusing, but basically, if I drive in OD and get over 70 my teeth rattle! This cannot be good.

The TC is 1-year old. Should I go get a new TCC selenoid?

the vibration is most likely your u joints,8 bux each at auto zone,u only need 2. or u gotta tire outta balance.
