Speedometer moves when engine is revved and other problems.

I just had a motor swap on my 87 GTA and have ran across a couple of problems.
1. When I rev the motor the Speedometer acts like a Tach. What could be the problem?
2. How do I find a short or whatever is draining my battery? I know somethings pulling current becaues when I disconnect the + lead on the bat I get a pretty big spark. I had an alarm installed and I tried to disconnect it. How can I bypass it to start the car? I think I might have pulled a wrong wire loose somewhere because I am having trouble starting it.

Any suggestions or advice will be appricated.

Car: '86 Trans Am
Engine: LG4
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.70 Posi disc 9 bolt
Wiring reversed?

Happened to my brother a few years ago. Somehow the positive was acting as a ground vs the negative leads.

Jim.
