700r4 w/4WD
I have a question. I tried a search but came up with nothing.
My buddy has a 4WD SUV with a 700r4 in it(Blazer I think) that he just bought. It has a 700r4 that's on it's way out. The local shop wants an insane amount to rebuild it. I have my built up one out of the GTA sitting around. He said it won't work as it is because the 700r4 for the 4WD trucks had a longer tailshaft(I think that's what he said). What would he need to do to make my trans work(swap tailshafts I'd assume) and how much of a pain in the *** would it be?
Thanks guys!

Transmission: under rated for this application
Axle/Gears: also under rated
your going to need to remove the rotating assembly from the 4x4 trans to get the tail shaft out, to install it in the new one remove the rotoating parts and replace them the same way, but with the shorter shaft. 4x4 transmissions have better hard parts from what I hear, so swapping in a 2wd could weaken the link even more.
