DANA 44 #3 Carrier for a Camaro?
Hello everyone.
I am trying to figure out these gears??? My ex-brother in/law gave them to me a few years ago. He said they were for a 3rd gen camaro but the numbers on the pinion gear say DANA 32072 which comes back as a DANA 44 but the carrier does have a 3 on it.
I know thay are 3:73 but are they actually for a 3rd gen??? I have someone interested in them but I do not want to sell them if they won't fit. If I have too I will try em in my car but by the time I do all that I may as well leave them in. The only thing that slows me down there is that the spider gears are welded and I am not sure if I want to deal with the tire churping in the parking lot.
Thanks in advance, Scott

They'll fit a thirdgen with a Dana 44. They won't fit the average thirdgen with a 10 bolt or 9 bolt.
If the spiders are welded, I'd toss the thing out.

...I wouldn't toss the gears, as they would be worth somethig to some one with a Dana 44, but toss the carrier if it's welded. I've broken welded carriers in the mud, I'd never even attempt to run one on the street.
If the numbers trace to be for a dana 44, then they won't fit a factory 3rd gen rear. Dana makes gears for many models, so it would depend on the part number.
