??? on the high $ converters
My car will cut a 1.77 60ft when it hooks up right. The converter I am using now is a cheap 79$ oE replacement. it will stall 2200 to 2300 (from a vet). Would it be worth the invesment to spend 575 to 775 to get one of the name brand converters? Thanks for any input.

There are some junk converters out there but normally, a higher price converter is a more high performance converter. The cost of the converter is in direct relation to the performance level and quality of the build.
I can't see me putting anything less than a $800 converter into my car.
A converter should be matched to the engine's performance level. My converter in your car would be a bad choice as would a more streetable converter in my car.
A 10" converter that stalls at 3500 is not the same as an 8" or 9" converter that stalls at 3500. They may look the same on the outside but it's the parts inside that make the difference. For a strip only car, a converter with a slightly higher stall won't hurt performance much. You'll also need a huge oil cooler to keep the heat down for a high stall converter. Actually, you should have an aftermarket cooler for any converter with higher than stock stall.

What does your rpm drop to after the shift?
With my yank 3500 stall and 3.73 gears, when I shift at 6000-6500, it drops to 5000-5100. Yours probably drops lower.
