Car: 86 Z-28
Engine: 356 4-bolt
Transmission: Borg warner T-5
rebuilding tanny
have an 86 t5 NWC. Ive disassembled the tranny except for the lower cluster. How do i get that out? the rebuild kit doesnt show me how to. anyone have a handy trick or am i in over my head. Ive allready rebuilt the main shaft that wasnt a problem the lower cluster is being a pain. any help would be great.

Set the case on your press with the front of it facing up, and supported close to the rear bearing. Press the front countergear bearing inward, into the case. The inner edge of it will press on the gear, which will press on the rear bearing. Once the bearings are clear, the gear will move far enough rearward for you to remove the front bearing and tanged thrust washer from the gear. Shouldn't require very much pressing.
