2400 TC no trans cooler. Questions.

Alright guys, 'bout 3 years ago I bought a "newly rebuilt, but used" 700r4. Not sure exactly what it had done, but I was told it had all the upgraded clutch bands and shift kit and what not. Heck I didn't really care, I blew up the last one and needed something!!! Along with it came a 2400 B&M converter.

This trans is awesome! It shifts hard, and the shift points couldn't be better. To this day I'm not having any problems.... .....and I've never run a trans cooler. Now I've recently learned this was a bonehead maneuver!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But hey, live and learn I guess. I just didn't know any better.

I've got a straight drive swap comin' up this spring, so I don't see adding one now at this point, but I do have a friend interested in the old (current) 700r4 tranny. Obviously I'll tell him about not having a cooler

Fluid still looks great, and like I said, I haven't had any problems. Mileage on the tranny is about 4000. What are your thoughts on this matter? Is the tranny gonna blow up on me any day? Is there heat damage that just hasn't shown up yet? Have I dodged a bullet?

Curious about what you all think the current condition of this tranny is?

if the fluid stilll looks good and doesnt smell burnt i would think you are still ok. i would strongly recommend a trans cooler from now on though

Do you mean no cooler what so ever or is it just running through the stock radiator?

If you have it hooked up to the stock trans lines, then you should be fine. It is not required to run a external cooler along with the stock radiator, but it is recommended.

Yep, sorry......still running the stock cooler, but no aftermarket.

Gotta be honest, for a couple months, I can't see puttin' one on now. Hopefully the T5 will be in soon.

You should have no problem running the stock cooler.
