Search is Down....TKO 500/600...What do I need?

looking at possibly buying a TKO 500 or 600 to replace my T5.

1. How much do these things cost
2. Bolts up to stock bellhousing? has correct input shaft length? correct spline count? In other words... I don't have to remove anything passed the tranny itself when swapping?
3. Will a Pro 5.0 shifter work with it?
4. Crossmember? Driveshaft? Torque Arm? all work?
5. Anything else I should know?

the T5 i have is working fine but it needs a new tailshaft housing to gearbox seal and a new countershaft bearing. and the gears whine at all speeds. I got quoted $1,000 by three different shops to fix it which I think is idiotic.

The kits are around 3500-4000 bux. You'll want to get also a dakota digital sgi-5 for correct VSS output. The pro 5.0 shifter will work from your t-5. As far as output / input lengths I think you'll need the aluminum spacer. Call Mike Forte in Burlington MA, he's the one who started the whole TKO F-body swaps way back when. They do have torque mounts you can get for the TKO's. A popular thing is to use Spohns xmembers and his torque arm which does't mount to the tranny but the xmember itself. BE AWARE that these xmembers are almost anti-ground clearance. The driveshaft safety loops that the xmembers have sits real low to the ground.

ive heard so many complaints with the spohn crossmember for this swap, as well as other products that they offer, that is has killed any respect i have for that company.

You can get everything you need as far as the trans from Forte's, i got mine there and have nothing but good things to say about them, just dont bother trying to communicate with them via e-mail.

the trans for this swap has a custom input shaft, so you cant just swipe a tko from a mustang and bolt it in. the stock driveshaft length will work, but you will need a new ford c6 trans yoke.

the dakota box is working well for me

you can use the stock torque arm, and crossmember, but the crossmember has to be modified and used with spacers

the cost, everything i bought from fortes cost about $2600
that was everything for the trans, no clutch, bellhousing,or crossmember.

you mentioned another shifter, im not sure it is will work or not

It comes with a hurst shifter and fortes did a modification on mine that moved it back 2" so its centered in the console, but its still a little too far to the right. If you decide to use this shifter with the rear setback he offers, just know that i talked to mike about this shifter and the setback causes the rubber boot on the shifter to wad up under it and pop the trans out of 2nd and 4th gear, i dont know if he has changed the design.

as for the crossmember, i have my tko mounted to UMI's 700r4/t5 crossmember with the aide of a set of spacers i made to lover the crossmember 1/2" and a prothane trans mount. Clearance is tight in the trans tunnel but everything works fine. it site up higher in the tunnel than the spohn ones do and i have no issues with its ground clearance. my car is riding on sportlines, so its low, and the lakewod bellhousing does eat asphalt when im flying down some backroads with a high crown.

wow that was a longer post that i planned to leave....
