Tranny Problems?
Hey I have a 88 iroc with a 350 tpi. My trany is acting funny, when i gun it and it goes over 3500rpm the car just loses all power and my car redlines with no power. It acts like it isn't going into gear so if u know what is wrong could u please tell me so i can get back out there (the guy i bought the car from said the car is almost all stock so i bet the trany hasn't been takin out) get back to me with any ideas.thanks

Re: Trany Problems?
1st:check fluid level and check the adjustment of the tv cable. there are a million posts on here as to the procedure. also note the condition of the fluid(does it smell burnt? is it dirty?)
if that doesn't help, check the governor. make sure it is intact and working properly.
if all this checks out, then you may be in for a real treat because beyond the things i mentioned above and fluid/filter change the trans needs to come out to do much else.
is it shifting at all?

Re: Trany Problems?
o ya i still drive it to school and every thing. if u keep it under 3500rpms it is ok and it don't seem to do it in first gear.it does it when i'm just driving and just step on it, it just seems not to shift and my rpms go into the red. but i'm getting ready to change the oil so i will just go ahead and change the trany fuild and filter and i will see what it does.
