Transmission rant

Bring my car to shop down the street last Sunday. Guys kid was going to swap 700r4's after hours for money, about $150 cash. Was talking something like wednesday night have it done. So I call Thursday to find they havent had time to work on it yet. Mom at the front desk says it should be done Friday night. I go by yesterday to see the bay doors are closed up and car is still in the same spot. Go by today after work and the car is inside so they must be working on it. Cant get a hold of them so I come by later today when the doors are open and see them finishing it up.
2 clips were missing that hold the shifter cable in so the cable kept coming out every time you shifted so they manage to get it to stay in with zip ties. Thats when I see all the rust on the underside of the car. Im thinking Oh, great
Werent able to fix the leaking fuel lines and suggested I get all new lines since a bracket that holds them rusted them up.
Then when I thought it was all done and good, he takes it out for a drive around the block to find that its not shifting right. Going into 2nd at 30mph instead of like 15-18. Keep messing with it and it wont upshift at all then. Then adjust it the other way and it gets a little better but still not good enough. Then disconnect the TV cable altogether and its only shifting at 25mph still even though it should be upshifting hella fast without the cable.
Comes to the conclusion that the valve body may be worn out and if I wanted to, he could drop the pan on it and check. Looking at another couple hours, this being on shop time now for 60-70 an hour plus parts. He said it cant be in any earlier than Thursday becaise hes booked up.
Strongly emphasized that if the trans is screwed up that I go the route of rebuilding it and reinstalling it. Charges $750 for a rebuild and $250 or so to install, so Im looking at $1K more maybe if this trans doesnt work out.
Pay his kid up to date atleast, the $150, but Im looking at maybe a couple hundred more
Id hate to spend that much on just the transmission when I didnt even spend that much on the car. Its really starting to **** me off. And whats worse is I got a big bulge sticking out of my rear right tire now
