Transmission Overfill? or just really low?

Car: 1984 T/A
Engine: 5.7L TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Transmission Overfill? or just really low?
Is it posible to overfill the tranny without it reading full on the dipstick? I've added two quarts of tranny fluid already and it's still barely showing on the dipstick. HELP! (700r4, trans warm, engine idling, in park). Thank you!

No if it do not show on the dipstick running or not running then its still low. Particularly since you fill it through the dipstick tube

when the car is shut off and has been sitting for a while, the dipstick reads right below the full mark. after driving or warm and shift through the gears it barely registers on the stick.
