According to the info I have, the thirdgen alum shaft will not fit the TH350 82-83, but will fit overdrive trannies 83 to present.

82-83 didn't get a th350. It was a th200C. The length of a th200C is about the same as a th350(normal 6 inch tailshaft), so the driveshaft will interchange. You couldn't get the aluminum driveshaft with the th200c, so a th350 (normal 6 inch tailshaft) can't use a stock aluminum shaft because they didn't make one.

82Camaro,

Do I understand that the 82-83 stock steel shaft is interchangeable between the TH200 and the TH350 but that neither will accomodate the 88-92 1LE alum shaft?

Baz,

FYI, the 1LE measures 41 1/2 from U-joint center to U-joint center.

Nope. The aluminum shaft is 3 inches too short for a th350(six inch tailshaft) and the th200c.

A friend of mine installed a T350 in his Z28, and he had a custom aluminum driveshaft made for it. So I'm guessing that either noone makes them for T350, or else it's cheaper to get a custom one.
