Looking for a new 700r4 , please help me out !

first of all , I have 85 TA with LG4.

where should I look for a new/rebuilt tranny ?

I don't need anything extra super duty , something that will handle 300hp is absolutely fine.

JEGS has a 30spline 700r4 for $1200 , can anyone beat that ? (that one is TCI)

also , what converter should I get ? (this tranny is going to be behind a 305 for now , but soon a 350 or maybe just the modded 305, nothing too high end , max 350hp , more like 300hp)

I will also have 3.73posi rear in my car soon. (if that makes any difference)

is there any company that will take my old one and give me a discount (core exchange kind of thing) ???

I was hoping for something around $1000 or a bit under (if that's possible).

also , I need a 30 spline 700r4 , right ?

what does it mean when they say "lockup" and "non lockup" ? and which one do I need ?

thanks guys , sorry for the dumb questions , but I'm new to this whole thing but at least I'm willing to learn

goto www.700raptor.com . i got a TH350 tranny from them called 350 Raptor. and its so nice. it took 4 days to get to my door. i was going to get the 700 Raptor but didnt want to do the conversion. but the 700 raptor will bolt into your car. i think it is $1365.00 with(i think) a 1800,2600,or 2800 stall TC. Hope this helps

well. if you want faster take off. get a higher stall. i have the 2600 stall with my TH350. and i can take off fast. ive heard that the higher the stall the weaker the shift. but i dont know. 1800 is too close to stock, witch wont take off that fast. if i were you id get the 2600 stall. thats the perfect for the street/proformance car.

I'm very pleased with mine, and the $1,000 included the convertor. Give them a call.

I have the 700r4 Raptor and I love it, I got it with a 1800 stall, and it feels almost like stock--(minimal difference) but the firm shifts are awesome, its been like 5 months with this tranny and ALL is good. I would recommend a tranny cooler as well, its like an extra 65.00 but the worth every cent, I dident at first, but ended up getting one cause of city driving...(a protection measure) Anyway, they were extremely professional and shipped quickly (4 days)...Check them out at:http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperflist.htm
