Recently I replaced the rear U-joint on my Bird and shortly after I noticed that it developed a high speed vibration (55mph+). I needed to drive the car about 250 miles so I drove slowly. On my way back, the vibes were for the most part gone until about 85+ but those have always been there.

Question: Do u-joints need to "wear-in" a little or is there something else messed up?

I need to pull the tranny for other reasons soon anyway, so if there is anything I should look for please let me know.

U-joints don't need to wear in.

You have another problem.

Did the clips go in evenly?? (Are they all in?? )

Yes, the clips are all in. On one DS I did the rear U-joint and on another DS I had a shop do both and the same vibration was there. The vibes disappeared on the shaft with just a new rear U-joint but I haven't checked the other.

Any other thoughts as to what it is/was?
