Car: 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Red
Engine: 305 V8 TBI
Transmission: TH-700R4
someone please help me with my automatic
first off let me give you some info on the car
1991 chevrolet camaro RS
305 TBI 700R4 Transmission
NO MODIFACTIONS AT ALL BONE STOCK (FLOWMASTER EXHAUST)
Here is my problem or numerous problems
first off for the record the filter change before the car was bought(unknown)
the filter change after i bought the car @ 120,000 miles current is 124,033
when cold the transmission will shift at 20 mph + Hard then second will also shift Hard, The car will run past 70 mph in last gear without touching overdrive even though the shifter is in OD
When hot the car seems to be running almost perfect
The TV cable has been adjusted almost 12 clicks from all the way to the front of the car
I have also read and heard about the adjustment for transfixleo i have searched the pages and cannot find a thread on this adjustment procedure so if someone could link it in where i could check in on adjusting my tv cable correctly(cause im hoping that there lies my problem)*maybe not*
oh and another thing the car when coasting down a hill feels like the transmission slips out of gear and the car has to be revved up pretty far to feel like the car is pulling again.
when i tested one time the mph shift points i seen that
1st-2nd@ 15
2nd-3rd apx 16-17
next shift was @ 50 mph
never went into overdrive
I know this is alot of information but i wanted to let everyone know everything i could about what is happening because you cannot simply drive the car and feel it yourself.
someone please help me i dont want to take it to the shop and i hope that i dont have to pull the transmission and rebuild it.

Re: someone please help me with my automatic
I am having the EXACT same problem, and have the same car. a 91RS with the 700R4 tranny and a 305 TBI. When cold it shifts in drive HARD, and shifts in 2nd at about 20mph HARD, then shift again at 40. It's slipping and rough.. when the car warms up, it seems to run fine. Just changed fluid and filter and it's still doing it.. what the hell is going on??

Re: someone please help me with my automatic
Your getting overdrive. Look at your shift points you posted.
1-2 at 15
2-3 at 16-17
Next shift at 50 is overdrive then.
Your TV cable is definately not adjusted right. But your trans is probably toast now too...drive to a tranny shop and have them adjust it.

Here is a link to one of the transfixleo's adjustment procedures (I swear he had it on a hot key ):
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...nt-lockup.html
Note that a previous owner may have done a B&M 'shift kit' modification on the trans. Which does result in hard shifts. It is also somewhat common for the 2nd accumulator spring to break. Which also results in a harder then normal shift.

Re: someone please help me with my automatic
Yes - you CANNOT adjust the TV cable the way you want it, there is only ONE TV cable adjustment, and that's the correct adjustment. Anything else can cause serious harm to the tranny.
