The TH350s and TH400s are shorter then the 200r4 and 700r4 by about 6 inches if I remember correctly. Which means the crossmember will need to be modified as well as the driveshaft. As for supporting the engine it will sure do that.

Yep, get a TH350 trans adapter(Has a mounting point for the torque arm and a trans mount adapter) if one of the transmissions has a 9in tail shaft get that one. Most have the 6in tail shaft so you will need a longer drive shaft(82 Camaros and Firebirds with the auto work great). Good luck.

Re: will a turbo 350 trans fit into a 88iroc
Using the driveshaft, torque arm,and other parts from
that '82 berlinetta parts car, installing the th350 will
be a virtual bolt in using a torque arm adaptor.
The '88 might not have all the holes in the frame rails
to mount the '82 crossmember.
I still say it would be easier to repair the 700r4 in the
'88 or get another 700r4,but the th350 does have a
nicer 1-2 ratio spread I had an'80 z28 th350 in my
'82 for years

Re: will a turbo 350 trans fit into a 88iroc
Yep,that berlinetta should provide most of the needed
parts one thing that could be a problem though is
the th 350's kickdown cable as it will not be long
enough to reach the TPI's throttle body
(on my '69 camaro, the cable was damaged so i just left
it disconnected-other than no automatic downshift it
worked fine)
I got my th350,as is,for $100 out of a rolled '80z28
-it ended up being good(had it in from '93-95,swapped
to a 700r4 when i reactivated the a/c and wanted the
compressor turning at a lower cruise rpm)
I bought the 700r4 for $150 as is in 1995 from an'85
caprice(just about any v8 2WD,'82-93,will work if
you swap over the f-bod tail housing)
That 2nd tranny also ended up good and other than
the aftermarket converter i put in blowing it's thrust
bearing earlier this year, has been problem free for
over 15yrs-very possible to get a good used tranny

I wouldnt recommoned leaving the kickdown cable off, thats what raises transmission pressure. Your more likely to blow the trans faster.

Not without building an elaborate test rig.

You should be able to find another 700R4 for your car fairly easy, the TH350 is a great trans but i guarantee you'll miss the 4th gear.

Re: will a turbo 350 trans fit into a 88iroc
the TH400 takes just as much work as the TH350 to fit.

a 700R4 from a F-body is the only auto that's a direct bolt in for your car.

if you get one out of a Blazer or truck make sure its not 4wd, that trans will not work with out changing the output shaft and thats just not worth it.

Re: will a turbo 350 trans fit into a 88iroc
yes it will and its a easy swap. u can buy the cross member and torque kit it just bolts right in and its pretty chep. im about to put a th350 in my 89 irco-z. the th350 is the way to go if u wanna good fast shift and tough transmission. put a good converter and shift kit and have some good rear end gears and shes gonna move.

http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-7q-35a/

http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...7Q35B&CartID=1

Those are to run a TH350 with a 9" tail output shaft (or 700-R4 output shaft) with a spacer and a 6" tailhousing (from th350 or 700-R4)

There is also B&M kit (much easier to find than the above "switch kit") to allow the torque arm to bolt up to a 6" tailhousing TH350 but the driveshaft is still too short.

Re: will a turbo 350 trans fit into a 88iroc
You are awesome, Thank you.
The b&m kit seems the best way to go so I am going to order that.
The adapters say it requires cutting 1 3/8' off of the output drive carrier.
That just sounds crazy to me. I don't own a machine shop either though.
Thanks.
