1995 Firebird Rear End Questions. *Help*
Okay, I have the chance to buy a 1995 Firebird rearend with 3.23 Posi with disk brakes.
Are these any good? Are the disk brakes the same size on both the V6 and V8 models?
I can buy this off a buddy with disks and everything for $160 w/ a 30 day guarentee. Is this a good deal?
I don't know if this came off a V6 or V8 model though. I don't know if it makes a difference though.

FWIW: I bought my 95 rear minus the calipers and rotors for $90. Then I put the bigger 98-02 brakes on it.

Yes. Yes. Check the 10-bolt FAQ for information that may be helpful.

Does the 1998-2002 rear have bigger disks? If so, I would rather go that route and get the torsen I want as well.

I don't remember off the top of my head, but they are bigger. Why don't start looking around on the brake threads if you want the info

Are the 1998-2002 Brakes the same size for the V6 and V8 models, or are the V8 brakes better?

Re: 1995 Firebird Rear End Questions. *Help*
okay, I found a new rear from a 4th gen. I was told it was from 2002 Trans Am, How can I check what year it is from, and how can I check the gear ratio? Also, is it going to be a torsen? Is that any good?
I looked at the brakes and it has PBR stamped on it. What is the Ls1 Rear Disk rotor size? Anyone have a link to all the information on them? I couldn't really find what I was looking for on ls1tech.

It's a sticky post, guess you haven't bothered to read it

If it has an Auburn diff, it's pre 98. If it has the Torsen, than it a 98-02. Also can tell by the brakes. The 98-02 brakes are also different, they have a drum parking brake.
I would start searching the "Brake" threads to find out more info on the different brakes.
Both types of diffs has their +s and -s. You need to decide which one is better for you.

I would love to check and pull the cover, but it isn't in my possession yet, so it isn't a possibility. I would like to know what ratio's came in the Ls1 Cars. You can stop replying at anytime btw.
