HELP!! Just had new Pro-Built tranny installed today, possible adjustment problems?

I just got my car back from the shop and was test drivin it. At WOT it doesn't downshift like it should. I mean it GOES, but not like it used to. A Hyuandai driver wouldn't notice a problem, but my car used to throw me back inmy seat when it downshifted! Now it just lazily accelerates. I know something must be adjusted incorrectly (cuz Pro-Built makes awesome trannies), but what? I also had the shop put in a new TV cable and I readjusted it after my disappointing test drive. I also had them install a new Raptor torque converter (2300 stall, lockup). Any suggestions appreciated!!!

Chances are that it has the upshift valve installed. Once the trans goes into OD, it will keep it there until you manualy shift. Is that the problem you are having?

Yeah, how does it feel when you manually downshift? Have you called Pro-built on it?

If I start out in OD and drive at about 60mph, it doesn't downshift to the lowest possible gear when I stomp on the gas. It used to, before my old tranny went bad and I had to get this one. I'll call Pro-Built tonite when I get off work. No I haven't tried anything manually. I'll do more testing when I drive home.

I'm not sure but I expect that Pro-Built gave you detailed instructions on how to adjust the TV Cable. This is critical to the operation of the tranny as well as the life of it. To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

Yes, I gave instuctions on the TV setup, give me a call tomorrow (saturday) and I will help you out. From I have seen here is, it is not doing a 4-3 (full throttle downshift) at past 60-70 mph in overdrive? It will not do this because of the modifications that were done to the transmission to eliminate this. If you want the WOT downshift in 4th gear, you will have to "change the plunger bushing back to "stock specs". I can help you on this if this is what you want!?
