Whining 700 after rebuild

My buddy just got his trans back from a shop and we installed it. When we started it up, the trans would whine in drive and reverse. Any ideas what it could be?

Have you put any miles on it? What is the fluid level? Does the whine change if you pull out on the TV cable?

Re: Whining 700 after rebuild

No miles. Put 12 quarts in it. Didn't try pulling the cable. I put a shift kit in it when we got it back and noticed with the pan off that there didn't appear to be any contact in the TV system components until the cable came out over 1/4 of the way. Wasn't sure if that was normal.

The initial problem was the transmission had started to shift late and hard and the fluid was getting burnt. He said the converter was good and I didn't question him. We are now pulling it to swap it with a new 95 S10 converter.

While the transmission is down is there anything we should check? It isn't off yet, should I reinstall the pan, refill with fluid and pull on the cable while its in gear?

Thanks for the help.

It was the converter. Should have been changed with the trans anyway.
