TH-200C Tranny swap to T56
i have an 82 trans am with a TH-200C and i in the future will be switching to a 5 or 6 speed manual Tranny. Is it doable to switch out the 200 and put in a T56 and if so what all do i have to do in order to fit the new tranny in besides getting a new driveshaft, clutch assembly and shitfer assembly. also will it be costly (over $3000)
thanks
thanks

Read the T56 sticky at the top of this forum. Changing from the 200 is no different than a 700R4.

yes theres a sticky on it. ive never done the swap myself. but the bolt pattern is the same. and you also have to spend a good amount of cash on a new transmission crossmember. my friends currently in the process of doing it, the first piece of the puzzle is picking up a t56 without losing an arm and a leg.

oh ok i havent dont it yet at least not for maybe a year i have 90k miles on the transmission and im going to wait till it gets older before i do the swap. but im right now trying to get every bit of info i can get together before i even consider doing that so i wont mess it up also so i wont go into a hole because of money issues
