Need Help From 700R4 Experts
Long story short my tranny was slipping and needed to be rebuilt. I was going buy one from Dana at ProBuilt but my dad said "no, we have a friend of the family who does trannys hes the best he'll give us a deal". So I had them do the trans, put in a shift kit and vette servo. Got it back and the trans bangs hard coasting going back into 2nd when warm, take it back the said they had to shave something down and change a spring in the servo. Now it bangs everytime going back into 2nd just not as bad and he told me it was the rear-end. I had just built the rear end (richmond gears, superior axles) before the trans was done and it didnt make any bangs. It doesnt do this in any other gear. So now I am asking if this is just a servo issue I can fix or if I'm looking at something more serious. For the record I ended up spending the same amount I would have on one of Dana's tranny's. Thanks in advance for any help.

Id call Dana and talk to him. Sounds like you may still need his touch.
And kindly ask your dad about the "savings" now.
I can say that because I've been down the road.

Yeah thats the last time I go down that road, the biggest thing is my dad helped pay cause I went throught them but at this point I would have rather paid it all myself and got what I wanted.

I'll have to recheck but if I remember correctly it was the trans-go 2-3 shift kit.

If you have the 700-2-3, then you need to add the TransGo Junior. It will soften up the 1-2 part throttle shift, and mostly fix the 3-2 downshift clunks. My kits have both of these combined to give the best of both worlds.

Yes that sounds like exactly what I have, 1-2 shifts are firm no matter what. Is this something that needs to be done to the valvebody? Also can I just "add" the Junior kit or will I have to take out whats already there and start over? I am going to have to do this myself cause I'm sure not forking over more money to them. I appreciate all your help.

With the Junior Shift kit you will need to remove the valve body to replace an accumulator valve spring. The 2nd accumulator that bolts to the valve body will get new springs, and the corvette servo will get an additional spring and other modifications. You will need the original spring that was removed from the Corvette servo. You can get this from any 700R4 or 4L60E. This spring will go along with the new additional spring that will be added here. This kit is an addition to the 700-2-3 here. I have many hundreds of these out there doing just fine.

That doesnt "sound" to bad, I should be able to hand that. Now worst case scenario: I leave it the way it is, what would be the consequences?

In my expereince noises like this is your cars way of talking to you, ignore it and it'll crap out right about the time you trust it and feel its going to be fine normally leaving you on the side of the road in the middle of BFE.
If it were me I'd go back to the shop that did the work complain about the problem again, tell them the rear end was already rebuilt and proven and that you feel you've been given the run around and that they should eat the bill since you already paid to get the job done once and it was not done correctly. If they refuse tell them that since they did such a "great" job on your tranny the you will be more than happy to share your story with anyone that will listen. Just remember be polite and professional, losing your temper and yelling will not help here, they may fix it just to try and save their rep.

Re: Need Help From 700R4 Experts
Yeah I tried to explain that the rear end was all new and nothing happened before this but they didnt want to hear it, since he is my dads friend I'll let him deal with it. Hopefully I can just pay the $37 for the Junior kit and have them install it, if not I will just do it myself cause I know exactly what you mean, that and I'll never feel comfortable with it in its current condition.

In all honesty that might what end up happening cause thats what happned with my torque converter (another long story). I'm just fed up with these people and wish I could just "return" it. Hopefully they work it out and I dont end up doing this myself.
