1991 3.1l firebird clunking and jerking
Hi forums,
I have a 1991 3.1l v6 firebird. I have noticed that it begins to clunk and jerk when i try to accelerate from coasting at 90-100km/h(around 60mi/h). When im coasting at around 60mi/h the car is fine, but as soon as i give it a little gas the car jerks hard and makes a clunking noise in the rear. During this rough period the car does not accelerate, and continues to jerk until i take my foot off the gas. Also, i am not slamming on the gas to accelerate, i am lightly pressing down on it.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

There are rumors that this is due to torque converter clutch aging and gets worse over time.
I had the same issue, but sold the car before I had the time to look into it deeper.
It's just when you push the pedal down ever so slightly, right?
Could also be a maladjusted TPS. Check that first.
