Transmission Movement
What all do I need to do to move my transmission forward? And what is the best way to do it?

Re: Transmission Movement
Best way to do it: Car on a lift, transmission on a transmission jack, and it will just slide into place.
Best way to do it without a lift: get the trans into the tunnel behind the engine and muscle it on some kind of jack until the dowels line up and it slides forward to contact the engine. If you have to force it, back off and check to make sure the torque convertor is properly seated. Sometimes that last 1/8 inch can be a real bear to line up until it slides on the dowels.

Re: Transmission Movement
Well then, move it forward. Not really rocket science or anything.

Re: Transmission Movement
Make sure TQ converter is fully seated, the wiring is all out of the way and the 2 main alinement pins are lined up with the proper holes in trans.

Re: Transmission Movement
What I need to know is should I loosen the transmission mount or the transmission itself to get the forward movement?

Re: Transmission Movement
Mount.
Not sure how you'd loosen "the transmission itself" in any case. Just loosen the hardware that holds the mount to the crossmember, and the crossmember to the car.

Re: Transmission Movement
I was talking about the mounting hardware that holds the transmission to the cross-member, I think there was 4 bolts when I looked under the car but I didn't get a very good look.

Re: Transmission Movement
2 bolts hold the trans to the mount; 1 nut holds the mount to the x-mem; 4 bolts hold the X-mem to the car.
Shouldn't be any need to take the mount loose from the trans.

Re: Transmission Movement
Shouldn't have to loosen that, but it might help.
Mostly loosen the nut that holds the mount to the x-mem.
