700R4 to T5 conversion
Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to replace the 700R4 auto with a T5 manual in my 86 IROC. Ive got most of the parts rounded up and hoping to tear into it in the next couple days. Ive been trying to do my homework and have read a lot of threads on this site. Lots of good stuff!
So I thought Id start another thread asking for advice or any good words to hopefully make the swap go as easy as possible!!
Heres what I have:
T5 from a 84 Z28 W/ bellhousing, shifter, torque arm mount, ect.
New hydraulics
Pedal Assy W/ switches
Shift boot (lower)
console for manual
Custom PROM being tuned for my application
Clutch, pressue plate, tob, ect.
Flywheel, Im not sure if I have the right one, Its from the 84 Z28 with the 305. Im not sure on the hub size or balance issues??
Also when it comes to cutting the holes for the hydrualics in the fire wall, and the hole for the shifter, any tips there would be awesome.
Thanks guys, I will keep this thread up to date and hopefully it can be helpful to others as well!!

Re: 700R4 to T5 conversion
Hello again guys, got the swap done... But I'm having trouble bleeding the hydraulic clutch!! I've read a lot of threads, tried bleeding the system a few times and am getting frustrated!! I'm only getting about .40 inch movement on the slave cylinder. I can shift the trans, but it is hard while the car is running! Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to bleed my clutch after it let loose using the following method
http://performanceworks1.com/ls1_clutch_bleeding.htm
instead of using a vacuum gun, I just sucked on the end of a 2' long clear tube i bought from home depot.
removed a ton of air from my system and works like new now.

Hey! Thanks for the reply! I actually just figured it out!! I installed my master cylinder a little bit off of where it should have been. I was able to adjust it a little and it works perfectly now!! Finally, it is great to drive the Camaro with a manual trans. Just have to sort out all the clutch brake pedal switches now.
