Transmission options

Hello all, I'm planning on doing a swap in the future, to a 5.3 and want a better trans than my t5. Car is a stock 5 speed..
I know of several options, but I'm looking for something specific.
I love how the t5 feels. It's heavy, I can feel every bit of bite, etc.
I've driven newer stick cars; a 00 f body, 06 and 07 goat, and lots of the newer camaros, and I absolutely hate the clutch feel. They all feel like on/off switches with not much resistance, and I just don't feel connected, which defeats the purpose of a stick..
What other options are there? Or is there a way to easily make the t56 have that heavy feeling that the t5 has? I've never driven anything with a tko or anything else, so I have no idea what feels like what.
Any advice? Budget is definitely the main concern.

Re: Transmission options

If you want resistance, a larger bore master cylinder for a fourth gen (McLeod is 1/16" bigger, Tick has one 1/8" bigger; I'd stick with those 2 which will increase resistance. Both are adjustable at the pedal pushrod. And if you want to fine-tune, Tick might be able to offer an even larger bore if you just want stupid resistance.

With the on/off switch, you'll probably want to stick to a stock type clutch. The LS7 became the stock LS2/LS3 clutch and is a good option for a 5.3.

There are ways to run your stock clutch, but I'd start with the above before going overboard with custom parts.

I love how third gens feel, they have a nice heavy and mechanical feel to em. That's what I'm after. If I use stock third gen hydraulics with a t56, will I be stuck with the on/off effect?
