Where can i get a torque convertor lockup kit
I want to switch to the pre comp hei ignition so i can switch the carb and manifold out , so that means with my 700-r4 trans the torque convertor wont lock up right. It's on an 84 if that makes a difference where can i get a kit that controls the torque convertor itself?

Use the GM vacuum switch PN 14014519 & GM connecter PN 12102606. Install the vacuum switch on the fire wall and a vacuum hose to a true vacuum source. Hook one wire to the battery (use resistor wire) & the other to the "A" pin in the plug at the transmission, it is the outer pin in the plug toward the front of the vehicle. You might have to make a ground, install it then see if its needed. Make sure engine/transmission is itself grounded to the frame with a strap. Now it will lock & unlock automatically.

or......if you want to be lazy like me just get a metal switch from Advanced Auto and wire it into the ALDL. Take the ALDL out (under drivers side dash, the thing you use to scan trouble codes with) so you can see the wires. no splice into A and F and wire into switch( The top left wire and the top right wire). Now go for a ride and find out when switch activates (what position switch is in). The lock up should not occur untill second gear. When lock up occurs the car will seem to bog and then slowly the rpms will raise back up.
