700R4 after rebuild 4th gear dragging speed down
I thought possibly from another thread that my forward sprag may be in backwards but the more I think about it that should not be the problem. Pretty confident I checked 3 times to the book when installed.
Sprag backwards would lock hard. This seems like a slow buildup of drag that decreases speed (you can feel it) but it is not a hard engagement. Shifting to 3rd immediately frees it up and drives fine.
There was a note about the ball in the aux valve body possibly in the wrong hole.
Looking for any input before taking everything out again.
I think its an 89 body and has aux valve.
All operates good until 4th.
switch indicates, lockup seemed to be working but hard to tell. Its not electrical or ECM lockup solenoid issue for sure.
3rd rebuild so I'm pretty good at it but must have made a mistake somewhere.
TIA

Re: 700R4 after rebuild 4th gear dragging speed down
Update, after pulling the valve body and dropping the ball out of the aux valve body I couldn't determine if the ball was in the wrong spot.
Put all back together correctly and still wants to drag down speed when it its 4th gear.
So I'm still bothered why it doesn't just lock when 4th hits. Seems to just start building up drag to the point it is noticeably slowing the car down. Unless the sprag is not holding good but I would thing other gears would show signs of that.
Anybody have some insight that may help?
TIA

You may have a cross-leak into the Overrun-Clutch Circuit.
I would reinspect the Input-Drum and re-Air Check the Forward, Overrun, and 3-4 Circuits for leaks.
