Opinions on this 700r4 rebuild kit.
Hi all,
I'm seeking some opinions on the following product. 700r4 Rebuild Kit Heavy Duty 1982-1986 $846.73. I currently have a 700 R4 transmission in a 1985 Z28 Camaro, which is behind a stock 305 LG4 engine. Rear gears would presumably be stock also. 3.73?, which will most likely be upgraded in the future. I'm looking to upgrade the engine to a 350 sbc, which is manufacturer rated at, 390hp, and 410 ft lbs torque.
This would presumably be too, much for the stock tranny, so I'm looking at rebuilding it. Can you please advise if the kit noted above would be suitable, and also can you recommend a suitable torque convertor. From what I have read, a stall of 2200 to 2500, would be ok. The car will be strictly a cruising one, with no racing or track use. Also, in regards to the rebuild kit, would you recommend any of the optional parts listed on the page.
Please see link below.
I am located in Australia, and rebuilt transmissions and rebuild kits here are quite expensive, hence the reason for rebuilding.
Thanks in advance for your help. I sent Dana a Pm also, and thought I would ask on the forums as well.
Regards,
Simon Stevens.
