I finally toasted the r4 last week so im decieding whether or not to have a buddy rebuild it or if the price is right buy another tranny. Im kinda on a limited budget at the moment so i may just rebuild. But i would rather not seeing as its my daily driver. If anyone out there has a cheap working r4 let me know, or if anyone even has a rebuild kit a little cheaper than retail i would probably take that.

You can pick up a stock rebuild kit for about $150 or so, new steels, seals, frictions, etc......

You can get most of the parts here, and there is plenty of info available on the boards for DIY's.

Or you can buy a used one for about $200.

Whatever you want just beware that the guy building it could mess up just a TINY bit and you'll be rebuilding it all over again real soon.

Though I think I'd trust myself more than the guys at AAMCO.

I'd recommend Jimmy's but you are tight on money so I guess that doesn't work for you or you wouldn't be posting here.

I don't have a rebuild kit. However, I do have some special order TCI parts for a 700R4 such as a .570" boost valve, a TV sleeve/plunger kit, and a Vette servo kit that will really wake up a 700R4 if you are doing a rebuild. Throw me a PM if you're interested. If it's a rebuild you're looking for, contact Ron at Guaranteed transmission. He's a great guy and is good to deal with. He stands behind his work 100% no matter how much power you are going to throw at it. There are a couple locations in NW Indiana. I highly recommend calling him for your street, strip, or all out race trans needs. If it,s a 700R4 you want, my buddy has one, but he's not sure if it works or not. It was in a TA that he bought to strip out. Chances are it works, because the engine was just rebuilt, but there is no guarantee. If the trans does not work at all he will return your money. He wants 100 bucks! PM myself or SUICIDE!
