Feels like rear axle shifts when accelerating quickly

Hey guys I just bought my old 1989 trans am GTA back from a guy I sold it too a couple years ago. Before I sold it to him I noticed anytime I punched the gas or accelerated quickly it felt like the rear axle would shift backwards or something. I took it down the road yesterday and noticed it’s doing the same thing still. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be or what I should look for as I am still learning about these cars. Thanks in advance!

If you're feeling the rearend move, check the panhard bar and rear control arm bushings.
if it's a thud or bang in the console area, trans mount.

Just ordered sway bar bushings and a torque arm bushing. I checked them out and they are all shot. Thanks I’ll see how she feels after I throw them in.

Trans mount is the thing that breaks the most. You pretty much have to take it out to do the TA bushing; even if it's not broke in half, which it most likely is, best to just go straight nuclear and launch a pre-emptive first strike on it.

The shop I had working on my '89 back in the early '10's could not for the life of themselves diagnose this for whatever reason. They sent it home 3 times with "Couldn't reproduce sound". I ended up having to sit in the car on the lift and recreate the sound for them.
