When using a holley carb with a 700r4 trans do I need to buy any special adapters for the kickdown cable. On the Holley box, it's saying something about damaging the700r4 trans If some type of bracket is not used.

I thought it had more to do with the geometry of the mounting point. The Q jet looks like the attachment point is closer to pivot point on the shaft of the carb. Does the part U mention move the mounting point higher on the carb's linkage?

I can't remember where the cable was positioned on the Qjet it was too long ago. The holley bracket goes under the rear carb bolt and accommodates the throttle and TV cables.

ditto: the only thing u would worry about adjusting the TV cable right. The best way is to get at least a 300 psi pressure gauge and plug into your pressure tap. try 700r4.com, they can go into further detail about adjusting with the gauge+ they sell it too if you need one.:lala:

Yes, what LS1 said.
I found a trick way to aid in the process of adjusting the bracket to make the adjustment easy for holley/edelbrock. Take a spare cable bracket assembly (stock one) and cut the tv cable holder off at the bend. You should have a piece with the clip hole and a bolt hole left. Since your using a holley you probably have an after market manifold with a threaded hole right at the bottem of the rear fuel bowl, 3 in back from the ac bracket on the manifold same height. Turn the cut off tv bracket around and attach it to this hole, then pop the cable in there. Now turn the tv screw on the carb linkage around so the ball/clip part faces the carb. Attach the tv clip and adjust. GTG.
I should have a pic or two in a week.
