Belt difference
I have to chance to buy a rebuilt v6 (2.8) to replace my blown 2.8 for cheap. However the motor that I am looking at does not have the serpentine blet as mine did, would it make a big difference in the type of belt the engine uses. Both were fuel injected, mine was a 87 camaro this is an 86 firebird the compression is 170-180. I was just wondering if I could use this engine?? Any help would be appreciated.

It's no problem, just bolt everything from your motor onto the '86. It works, trust me. I did a similar swap for a friend, and the pictures are here: http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen We put an '86 (v-belt) into his '89 (serpentine). We stripped both to a block, and put the serpentine setup onto the '86 block.
