The V6 Headers.

To those interested in the Headers, I will be getting in more collectors this week(hopefully) If I can order them tomarrow.

Dead, Yours are almost done man. Thanks for hangin in there.
I need to finish the flanges and get a pipe expander. So I am Praying they will be out next week if all Shipping on the stuff I need goes well.

To others, I or 89CamaroRS will try to post the newer Header pics sometime soon. When they come out, that means that Dead's will be on the way to him, and I will let him post what he thinks of them, IF YOU WANT THEM AS WELL EMAIL ME(as I will no longer be on the board).

I wrote this in another thread, but I figure that not everyone will go to that thread so here it is flat out.

I think that the V6 board have become too much of a how to fix this and that,(That is fine that it its main purpose) BUT I hardly see anyone asking or at least taking serioulsly the challenge of making their V6 fast. Almost on EVERY post I see "why waste your time put a V8 This and V8 that" Shiznit.

THIS IS A V6 BOARD PEOPLE, NOT A V6-V8 BOARD. HELL BE ****ING PROUD OF THE ENGINE YOU HAVE, HELL IT'S BETTER THEN A FREAKING CIVIC FOR G O D S SAKE!. ALL THIS V8 MONING AND GRONING MAKES ME SICK. HELL I HAVE A V8, SOON TO BE TPI EVEN, BUT I STILL HELPOUT GUYS LOOKING TO MAKE HP WITH A V6. And Ked85 I give you props for at least keeping it a V6, but to the others that cry about how weak their V6 is SHUT UP. Learn how to build it up, spend the Money. If you want a V8 GET ONE AND SHUT UP!. At least that way we will not have to hear you cring about your V6!.

Clock' Ignore the PM I sent you about my CHD user name, Hell it's just not worth it anymore. I know you might lock this, but keep it near the top. There's info here that needs spread, IE the "SHUT AND QUIT WHINNING".. Parts.

To those that want to keep up on what I will be doing to my V6,I will try to keep pics, and write some blurbs and put them on my page.

To those that are interested in learning about turbo's feel free to email me. GenerationXracing@yahoo.com I have 2 short things written right now that I already sent to a guy here. I will try to get more done when I get time.

See Ya... CHD Signing off..

So I guess that turbo idea is a no go then? That really sucks man. First I would like to congratulate you and thank you for being one of the only people to actually not bench race the six. I think you were a great assett to the v6 community and I think you will be missed. Good luck on your business and maybe you should pop in here and there to say what's up. See you around!

Wow, I couldnt agree with you more on the "My car is too slow how do I look in a parts magazine and look up parts for the 2.8-3.1"engine thing too. I'll post my header results in a few days when I get my car back.

One more thing, I want to know is would you ever be coming back as "The Senior Member Formally known as Camaro Hunter D" or just a symbol?

Anyways good luck and peace out!

Mr. CamaroHunter, those headers woundn't happen to smog legal in the great B.S. smog state of California would they? I could only dream to be so lucky! Its so difficult to build any motor knowing you can't put headers on it because of smog laws. I love lightweight v6's, they corner great.

the turbo idea is not out yet...

the turbo he had ...we opened it and found that the exhaust side was badly damaged...we are still trying to use a pulley and try converting that thing into a Supercharger...well its more than just an idea right now as the shaft has been given to the machine shp to put a pulley on it ..then we are gonna play around with that for a while...

it is still possible to make headers for the turbo ..but equal lenght is out of the question with the bender he has...tyhey are close to equal lenght but not exactly equal....

I have gotten 6 emails asking about this

Yes after I get these things going, I will send them off the C.A.R.B. to attempt certifacation.

Is the turbo project south? No. I am working on article to put on my site.

And yes I was one of the few that was full into V6 PERFOMANCE. But If you want suggestions, email me. I will be glad to help.

Jovi, Will CHD return?, Nope. Unless I get alot of emails asking about particulars THEN I will come back here and post for all, to get the situation resolved.

Afrikin, Yes I LOVE how My V6 Corners, try getting Iroc sways!. It's Great. TRUST ME.

ok... I got emails asking alot of questions that had been gone over so heres the low down.

Price $150 PLUS UPS S&H from Zip 62999. Weight approx, 25-30 Lbs.

Gains... I will guess around 10-15 HP/Trq. I am sending Dead his headers this weekend and he should have them sometime early next week. I will let him post what he gained performance wise.

Now also remembre that after these this gets going and I start making $$$ back from the $1400 I have spent so far I will be looking into another bender that can do better bends. The one Iam loking at is about $2K. With that I will be tring to completely reproduce the Hedmans, and even make Turbo ones.

I heard somewhere about headers for a V6 and have been tryi'n to find out more about it. Imight be interested, It won't be right away cuz i have repairs to do,but I'll check back to see how they did performance wise and i'll get in contact with you.Hell yea i just dropped a 3.1 lit in my Firebird after the original blew.I would'v opted for a V8 cuz my bro gave the springs i needed and everything but this is my car i gotta drive everyday and i can't afford to keep gas in a V8 car so i'm just gonna mod the V6 i have all i can. It's better than one of those Jap 4-bagger pieces of ****.....Andy

I did not mean to snap at you in the email if it sounded like that. I just never go to that email hardly anymore. Post here, I come back often enough to get the questions answered and what not.

Dead I am finishing yours today and sending them out this evening VIA overnight UPS. Again let me know ASAP about that drivers side. I got them painted last night, I just need to smooth some wild welds..(got a little excited!) LOL!.

Hey Loom dog your side skirts will go out tonight too.

Hmm.. anything else... 'Clock email me at Generationxracing@yahoo.com when you want to get the headers, That goes for everyone else too.

Ked85, no prob on the rops to you. You want to keep your car good. You deserved them.

85 Sportcoupe, yeah I regularly get over 27/29 MPG even with the few mods I have, and I even beat 89CamaroRSs' car BAD yesterday. He even had a cam installed, And more radically ported intake. We only went to 45-50 MPH but he was 1 1/2 -2 car lengths behind me then and I was still pulling.

ok. The collectors should be getting here this week. I am gonn call cause they SHOULD have been here already. But anyway.

The paint. as Dead will atest, DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM WITH BARE HANDS. THE PAINT WILL "RUB"/"POWDER" OFF. THE PAINT NEEDS TO BE SUBJECTED TO 650 DEG FOR 30-45 MINUTES TO CURE FULLY. I tried subjecting them to my little MAPP tourch and the paint still was not cured, so be WARNED, WEAR GLOVES.

I would simple install them with a few bolts and let the engine run for a while to get the paint cured. Afterall it will sound mean as hell running bare headers.! LOL....

Dead should have gotten his today(As a matter of fact they were left at his door) I already told him that I had changed out a fuse so the welder could run hotter, so HIS collector's got a little funky of a weld, but they held up to a hammer so I sent them to him.

I sent him an email asking to reply here after install so HE could tell you what gains he got with them.

I also sent "clock a PM asking this thread be made a temporary "Sticky" with all the questions I am fieldng in email, and here. it will make it easier for everyone to get the correct info first hand. I think I have answered just about all questions I have gotten on these so far. Please remember to email GENERATIONXRACING@YAHOO.COM with questions, NOT the Emerald address in my profile.

there are no gaskets there stock, But yes I would advise getting them from a parts store.

Ok People If you DO NOT WANT THE EGR HOOK UP I can get some sets ready this coming week and have them out early next week. .

To those that DO WANT EGR HOOK UP I am still working on them. I still need to get a few more things and I am broke right now so its a waiting thing. But hell the wait is worth it at this point. So close can hear the rumble...

Just an FYI thing, I have 3 sets of collectors coming, and 1 of those are going to Cali. The people that I am getting these collectors from take there sweet *** timing getting them to me and they are really getting on my nerves. I have already called several times.

Did the state of California offer good input to help you design a CARB approved 60* header for the 3rd gen model F-body style vehicles?
Hope you score with that detail, too!

well they said with all the testing that they do basically keep the EGR and I should be fine. They really hate testing the Comp controlled cars cause they correct for alot more stuff then the EPA there cares for, and they pass with fling colors.

They also told me that the only reason that the hedmans did not pass was cause it changed the emissions layout of the car. If they woulda had the EGR plate, they woulda been approved cause even without the EGR they made no big gain in emissions.

to the novelist,

Square tubing?... Where the.... well without going on a 4 page rant, NO.

I called the collector people today(AGAIN) and they promised they would ship this week.

And BTW I ordered a Jamex strut bar yeterday, and already got the UPS SHIP Confirm... COOL.

Tring to think if I have anything else to update,

Well the TPI swap on my 91 is off to start, though I am glad I have another daily driver. I got the engine wiring harness the other day... MAN i have my work cut out for me repinning this Shiznit. I have to change 50-60 outta 120 wires... Not looking like a good time right now.
I also found a local 400 from a guy for 150. He will warranty for 9 months even!. SO the 377 is on its way slowly. Oh and I plugged some info from this swap into desk top dyno and it came to almost 565 FtLbs at 4200! and almost 450 HP!. Theres a stump puller!... I also am getting a 80's 2.8 Fuel injection badged rear bumper cover too!. Just to mess with some heads... LOL... will love seeing some people wanting to race, cause 1, its a camaro t top, another it says "V6" ... hmm wonder what they will think when I leave rubber fo 90 feet off the line!... Pop the hood to see a lovely polished TPI 400... ahh the simple pleasures in life.

sorry about that guys but they forced me to take action.

sometime you must poke the sleeping giant to get his attention. I asked about it several times befor and got no real answers why there was no sig limit. when they use to be one.

i can care less about a SIG, but I feel they have/or need to set a proper limit. 5-10 lines.

like I need to see 3 pargraphs of some dorks whish list of parts he will never buy.

no offence to the dork who have them but, its so lame it sickens me.

all you need to post is a time slip and some general performance info, if you have anything exciting someone will ask for detail specs, then feel free to post them.

Ok good news.
1st, I found another supplier for collectors. I am waiting to hear back from them on the pricing I can get.

2nd, these new collectors com out to the 2 1/2 exit diam.
I have seen a pic of them and they lokk 2K percent better then the POS things I was using.

3rd, it's a company that is closer, so hopefully the S&H lag time will be cut down.

Oh and 4th, that drill bit came on so I can pick it up this coming week and get started on the EGR stuff.

So hopefully in 2 weeks I will have a kick a$$ set to send to CARB for testing.

Just keeping the info up to date.

I wouldn't wait, they will definantly show improved performance over stock exuast manifolds. I'm only waiting for C.A.R.B. approval for calif. use, Otherwise I can't use them legally.

I am going to pick up that drill bit today.

Ok the (new) collector people want over twice what I was paying for my old collectors. I emailed them back telling them the price Ipay for them now in hopes they will lower the price to something more reasonable.

I get them now at 12@ they want just about 25@. If you guys want I will use the newer collectors, and only raise the price $10 making the price of the headers $160@, Not a big hike, but hell at $50 for a set of collectors it gets expensive. I have some of the older collectors coming in this week(I have been promised) so I will wait to hear some feedback about this. What I can do is basically get some sets togeather minus the collectors and see what you guys want.

Again I really like the newer ones, but for that price they better be as good as they look.

Not to upset everyone but I'll pay 200.00 for them in a heartbeat. I would perfer the larger 2 1/2" exit.

I answered your email, but just to make sure I (literally) just went out and looked around, and YES I DO have 1(ONE) complete set, and I will need another PASSANGER SIDE to have 2(maybe 30-45 minutes of work) as I have 1 or 2 of the older collectors still out there.

one more question are the headers a pretty straight bolt off the manifold bolt on the headers or what else is actually involved because i know so little about cars i will probably take it to my trusted mechanic to get them put on . . . so what can you tell me about installation as to give him an idea of what he is getting into to give me an accurate price quote? thank you again so much and that set you said you have they are completely finished?? could be shipped as soon as you had the money or about how long of a wait for them not including shipping?
