Car: 1983, 1986
Engine: 2.8 2bbl, 2.8 MPFI
Transmission: 200C 3 speed, 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.08, 3.42
Am I right in thinking...
I was just bouncing this around over the past couple of days and wanted to see what everyone thinks. We already know that the 2.5 iron duke is essentially 1/2 of a pontiac V-8 block (326, 350, 389, 400, 428, and 455). It has also been stated that the 2.8 and the 2.5 share the same bellhousing pattern. So would a 2.8's 700R4 bolt up to a pontiac V-8? I was thinking of a future project down the road which would involve a 1990 formula body, and a v6 trans. I can also get a pontiac engine through a bunch of guys in the GTO club. My question is would it work in terms of bolting together? Obviously the trans would need beefing up

Speekin' of Fours - does anybody know anything about Quad-Four's ? Ive been trying to learn about these little beastes - would they buckel up to a "duke" trans? (Yea, Iknow everything else is in the 'wrong'place) Do the blocks share any similaritys? Any idea where could I get some tech info on them?

Ok, here's th' poop - Back in the 70's the Chevy Vega (did I see Ked85's ears pop up?) was getting a bad reputation - so Delorean had COSWORTH Raceing in England to build a special engine for what became known as the Cosworth Vega - the first ones got over 200 Hp out of that punty Aluminum 122 cu block! - it was a dual cam 16 valve head - like the Quad 4. Two blocks joined at the hip - Caddy North Star. So... I'm think'n this is where the (non blown/ non Nitrus) power is.

AND WHAT KILLED IT???
The GM smog stuff they threw back on it, to pass smog specs, 1975-77 (correct time span?) version.
WAS A REAL BUMMER.
I never drove one, new, as they weren't around......
even at local dealerships (I lived in the STICKS of eastern PA, then)
I have the showroom literature & lots of old car test, but....
NO VEGA
They go for about $1K - $6-8K now.
Better have all those little parts....
It's only a Bosch L-Jetronic set up, same as used on Porsches & Opels & BMW (really true!).
Yeah, the smog stuff killed it
PLUS for same price (about $6K+)
Monte Carlo w/350 & 4 bbls (no gas milage)
Camaro LT-1 then the re-release of the Z-28 (same engine specs as above)
Cheap Corvette (don't laugh, you could buy a new Corvette cheap, like $7K-stripped)
Chevelle Laguana S-3 (same engine specs)
Novas w/350 & 4 bbl (would blow away that Vega & save the extra money for the gas you'd burn).
Yeah I love Vegas. Maybe caused I did so much for so cheap in that car.
BUT
lousy back seat or hatchback space , if ya know what I mean....
