maby my engen wasent ment to be. LOL
well it was running it sounded nice likenormel a lil smoke from when we spilt a littel but that was expected. i drove it for about 2 miles. i left school ran good kept the rpm's below 3,000 the hole time went to my house 1 mile away. started up nice ran nice so i drove to my girl frends house and we were going to go to the movies (i think my car is getting revenge). went to go start it and turned over and ran at 200rpm's so i put my foot on the gass.
It started to smoke black out the exaust and was rumbeling real hard like before. so i shut it down checked all my nuts bolts ingichtion coil i had 2 people look at it so far one more will look at it tomrow. so far from every one that i haf talked to it's the timing chane gear or belt. well to my knolage it's a timing gear dose anny one know (well some one knows lol can some one tell me).
i was told that maby from my hard driving and the hard driving from the person before me it proebely started to strip and it finely went. and it was proebely off a couple teath or somting when i left my house and from the force of when it shuts off it proebely spun it 1\4 off.
anouther question what is all of your opinions and if u say it's gear what's invalved to what i know aring every thing off the front of the engen. im defentely taking this to a shop because in school we dont quite have the space and tools right now.
ken85 (i think that was the name) sorry that i might of taken what u said the rong way but i found out that my girl frend might of been cheating on me and i have voch auto right after i found out. hope to see u post agin sorry for that
P.S. can u go to jail for murdering a car lol:lala:

Well, I've NEVER heard of a timing chain GEAR stripping or losing teeth myself, if that helps.. Yes, we use timing chains, NO belts. Belts SUCK! So what was the result of checking the ignition coil? Were you getting spark to all of your cylinders? Did you throw a check engine light when this problem happened? If your timing gear actually BROKE...well....***.....it'd have to have received some pretty heavy abuse!! If it's ANYTHING in the timing system I'd bet the chain broke or has stretched severely. Here's the test Ked (Karl) told me to check the timing system. Pop your distributor cap off...you can leave the wires on if you can get the thing out of the way. Get a friend to turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise with a ratchet nice and slow...now the tricky part is your friend has to turn it very slowly and tell you EXACTLY when he starts to turn it. I don't think you've got a long enough arm to do this yourself, but the point is, the SECOND the crank pulley begins to turn, your rotor should spin as well. If the rotor has ANY sort of delay in spinning when you turn the crank, then your timing chain is stretched. Obviously, if there's no spin, then your chain is broken, but of course your car wouldn't run then.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.

EDIT -- our 2.8's have metal cam gears so it wouldn't be a problem in our cars. Chain could be stretched though.

Cammy -- Your first post said you were not good at spelling. However, this does not mean you should not TRY to spell properly.

Check your fuel presure. This all most the exact same way my '92 acted when the pump went out. I was only pushing 15PSI. I may be wrong on the exact number, but I belive the presure should be 35 - 40 PSI.
