Got my new block in today and the ARP bolts too! Looks like they have updated the block over there at GM, the cylinder walls on this one are ribbed (for strength), unlike my old (89) block. They probably just use the 3.4 block but keep the bore at 3.5" so it will work with 2.8 pistons.

Is that a new 2.8 block??? where and how much???

I did not know you could still get the 2.8 block. Thought the 3.4 was the only option for a new block.

I would love to build a new 2.8 for my Bird.

yeah its new, i got it from my local chevy dealership, just give them the part number and they can order it for you.

or you could also goto www.gmpartsdirect.com and order it there, but its like 80$ for shipping since it has to go by truck freight.

This block cost me $540 at the dealership.

I wonder why they don't have a 2.8 crate then???

That price isnt bad for new. About the same price as getting an old block re done right.
