size of dist. hold-down bolt??

size of dist. hold-down bolt??
when i changed my distributor, i had to wrestle with a couple wrenches to get the hold down bolt off/ on. well i need to advance my timing a little, and i dont wanna mess with it. im gonna just buy one of those pre-bent distributor hold down wrenches, but save me the trouble of checking.....what size is our distributor hold down bolt???

Mine was metric, the one just larger than 9/16...I think 13mm. We ground it to 9/16 though so I could use that nifty wrench.

Axle/Gears: 3.42's
easy way here...
13mm socket -> u-joint socket -> 12" extension -> ratchet/driver
takes care of the issue, just get it as straight as you can...it'll work and I bet you already have these tools

You sure its 13mm? I could've sworn I lost a 15mm socket trying to remove the dist off my ex's 3.1. And I did have success with a 15mm socket... so I'm going to say its 15mm, because that's what mine is too.

i was thinking that mine was metric, but i couldn't remember if it was 13 or 15mm.

It should be 15mm. When I bought my pre-bent wrench the only one the parts store had listed was for the 2.8 and they were all 15mm. The pre-bent wrench makes life a whole lot easier!!!!!! Just wiggle down there and turn. No fugging around involved.
I could not find one at chain stores like Kragen's, Auto Zone, etc. I had to go to my favorite local parts store that supplys shops with tools and parts. coast me all of $8.00 . I all ways sujest finding one these types of parts stores. They carry better quailty parts and tools. You can even find strange off the wall tools, like pivot pin removers for working on tilt stearing collums.
