home-made air intake for a '92 - 3.1 liter

i have seen posts for for making a home-made air intake system out of a home dryer tube from some place like home depot. i was wondering if anyone could give me further instruction on how to do this and if someone has done it, what the results were like. thanks.

i just did the ram air system, the one you are refering to, were you run tubing down the fender wall and bolt it to the bottom of the car open towards the front, and air is forced in, it helps alot, keeps the car running coolier and it takes off faster. i just went to the local parts shop and bought a air intake tube, and put it on over the old plastic pipe that comes out of the old metal air box. it fit perfectly, slug and tight, then i ran it down down the fender wall and throught one of the openings(supports) the the bottom of the bumper, then unscrew one of the bumper cover screws and rescrewed it in with the pipe attacted to it facing forward. make sure the pipe is tight and has no kinks in it, you are going to have to unscrew the little black tube that sits right next to the air box, it is alittle in the way, i just unscrewed one side of it and the other side was still screwed on so i just rotated it around, and it fits perfect. i know its kind of hard to understand, but i will have pictures up soon, so you can see it. hope that helped.

I put that dryer hose on my carb'ed 2.8 camaro and it works great. i don't think i have a good seal on it though. it is about an inch bigger than my air cleaner hose. i have it coming out of my bumber next to the lisence plate. my car's suspension is shot so i'm afraid to put it too close to the ground.
