You DA MAN, good luck in your bidness vwnture, get that crossover pipe going, & keep us informed when the turbo headrers are done!!!!
We all here thank you for your efforts, so if anyone here needs/wants headers and is not doing a turbo, get them now. If you are doing a turbo (like me) wait just a little bit more.

$150.00 2.8 Auto.
short block now
turbo eventually, 3.4 may be in the future

Thanks for not being upset.
I didn't realize that Hedman/Hooker no longer make the pipes.
Guess I'll find a set at swap meets now. They tend to throw away a lot of stuff at those swap meets.
Glad you got the metal bending solved. Reasonable cost, also!

As far as the EGR hook up yes. I never noticed that the P/S Pump bolted to the headers? But to answer question no. As far as Smog I do not have a CARB number on these. The best thing would be ask Hedman if they had one and tell the smog guy that they are hedman headers and the carb number is ect...
Ked good luck tring to find a set of these. I have been looking for about 5 years. At a reasonable price though. I have seen 1 or 2 sets but they wanted over $500 for 1 set. They knew that they were disconinued and that people wanted them. This was over 2 years ao too.... This set I got is the 4th set I have seen on Ebay over the past 5 years. They are just not out there anymore. And if they are they are very well hidden and not wanting to be found.

Hey guys, i'm getting my system done soon and I need an opinion on what mufflers to go with, as soon as I make a decsion i can get it done, here is what i have narrowed my choices to
(1) Dynomax: Ultra-Flo muffler- I was told that they wouldn't be loud do to the fact that my V6 motor will not push enough air to make them loud.
(2) Flowtech: Purplehornies- better glackpack design, less restrictive then a standard Glasspack muffler.
(3) Flowmaster: 40 Series- Good flow, but tinny sound, but good sound. but then again at sertain rpm it has a nasty persing tone that I hate.
(4) Supertrapp: Tuneble muffler- pretty good sound loud and tuneble so i can get the most perfomance.
Any help will be helpful
thanks,
rob

And if you read up a few posts about the first problems I was having. I originally went to harbor freight had THAT bender ordered and waited 6 days before calling to find out where it was. I got a reply that got me to vow NEVER to use them again. It was back ordered. At the time over 7 WEEKS BACK ORDERED. I would nat have it untill after the 15 of Jan '02. They did not email this info to me they did not tell me when I called to order even though I asked. The salesman said "It should be there in 5-7 Business days".
AT LEAST WITH THIS BENDER I AM LOOKING AT CHRISTMAS AT THE LASTEST. And It is coming from Indiana about 75 miles away. So it woun't take too long to get here either. I have come to an agreement with my G/F with this however. I will buy the bender when I get the cash to(I just got laid off work and am now waiting for unemployment to kick in) When it does I have close to 4 weeks of it comin at me. And if I can get the cash I need for the main 1.25" die set I will get it and they can get the other sets I need.
As I said before this thing is around $500 to get the bender and die for just the headers. The cross over pipe will need an additional die that's close to $225. So I better be making a *hitload of cross overs(Which I think I will) just to break even on the die for it.
I am goig to imagin that after I get a set installed on my car(So I can get the cross over worked out) and begin to offer it just about ever set will go with a cross over. Afterall it does step up to a free flow 2.5" tube. Though these will all be slip over type set up's. So you can use either pipe clamps, or weld them. But no bolts to tie them togeather. So no doughnuts to restrict exhaust flow just straight through flow.

As with my promise I am continuing the updates. Right now it is looking honestly around the new year for the headers. I just have no $$$. I am behind on car payments now(2 months) and I have to pay that first before getting the bender. I am going to give my G/F the ok to tell her parents to get that bender & die for me for christmas so it will take alot of the cost out for me.
I have also found a junk yard(Thanks to www.car-part.com) that is selling the passanger side factory header(For me to get the EGR tube length, width ect info) so I can make the appropriate changes to the headers to accomadate the EGR fittings to keep smog sniffers happy. You may be able to get away with it in cali even. You just tell them that they are hedman headers and they have the EGR(Obviously) Most of hedmans stuff do have CARB numbers for the street cars. He may let you go.

JCWhitney sells 180° mandrel bends for $11.50/ea
180 Degree Mandrel-Bent Aluminized Tubing, (A/B)=30", (C)=3", ID=1-3/8", OD=1-1/2"
For a prototype, that's not a bad cost if you only need one bend that tight. Even if you need one per header, it might be more worth it to buy the bends instead of bending your own. If you're buying a pinch bender, at the radius you're wanting to bend, there's a chance the tubing will pull closer to 1.25" inside.
Trust me,, I can sympathize with your frusteration,, I know how hard it is to make headers, I've made a few from absolute nothing for some friends on I-4 & I-6 cyl cars/trucks. I've also been welding/fabricating for close to 10 yrs now.

Ok. Well first monkie. As I said earlier I am hoping to get this bender for chritmas or very soon after. Before jan 5th.
$150 a set. This does not include the crossover.
DeadBird, The original Hedman headers do have a separate welded in 180 section of tube, I want to get all 1 peice runners so there is no possibility of flow disturbance. I have looked at the inside of the hedmans to find the welding job interferes with inside flow on 2 of the runners I believe. I want to get rid of that with my production. I just want to same quality to get to everyone. Thats what I am striving for now. I cannot garantee that one 180 weld on will flow with no resistance as another one I did. I just perfer to keep the runners all 1 piece, no interuptions, no infringements just good 'ol no restriction flow(And more importantly no doubts).
As I have said before this is going to happen. It's just taking longer then anticapated. But the time is drawing near.
