Video of 0-60 and 5-85 3.1L

The first video is of the camaro going 0-60, now this was on a complete flat road. I clocked at about 7.85 seconds.(time it if ya want and let me know whatya got)
Im not sure what the stock 3.1L's went in the 0-60 but i doubt its under 9 seconds. This is the first time i actually beat on the car since i installed the cam and ported heads.

The second video suxs! Also on FLAT road. I did a burn out bad from 5mph to about 15mph so i didnt look too much into the elapse time. but though your like to watch the vid anyways. I clocked it at about 18.6 seconds and thats with a bad burnout, 5-to about 90Mph.

I do think the cam and heads woke up the car alot!! As I can really tell in the 0-60 Mph time.

Comments are welcomed!!!!!

0-60Mph video

5-90Mph video

Also at this site it claims that a stock 3.1L Automatic runs 10.4 seconds stock for a 0-60 time. So i think I improved the car alot!!

Just to add to this. I looked at videos i had before and clocked about 19.10 from 5-85 before the mods. Now its about 17 sec flat. The 0-60 times was about 9.95 before and now is about 7.85. Hel* yea!! That makes me very happy.

Great stuff. Sounds like you were in Drive. ? What were the shift rpms? Have you tried shifting manually and were you in second doing the rolling start?

Re: Video of 0-60 and 5-85 3.1L

I had the overdrive off but i dont like shifting manually, its less inconsistant and my tach isnt 100% accurate. The 5-90 was a rolling start. All other videos are from a stand still.

Here are 2 videos i just took trying to get a estimate what the 1/4 mile times might be. I did 0-80 beacuse i figure trap speeds will be from 80-85.
I timed these videos once i got home and recorded roughly 14.5-14.8

Im really curious what times ill get once i actually can get some traction.

1st run.

2nd run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A98IljQH9A I said DAM* beacuse of the burnout.

Again good. But next time can you keep the tach in frame too? Want to see when those shifts are. And be careful out there! Exhaust note sounds great.

The paper work says its lift is .429 intake lift and .436 exhaust lift.

Yea its a mild cam but has a pretty good lope in the idle.

Keep in mind that I also did alot of head and intake work at the same time I installed the cam. So the preformance gains from the cam were better because of the intake and head porting/polishing.

Yup all those hours youll have in the heads do pay off. Exspecially if your on a budget and cant afford other heads like the hybrid swap ones.

I put about $250 in the cam, carbine bits, gaskets, timing chain, exc.(lots of hours porting) So im very very happy with the out come for such a low price on a V6.

that thing is begging for a set of 3:73 or 4:10 gears 2-3 shift at 78mph sucks.
though if ur deff going to go with the turbo soon id get 3:42 or 3:73's max.
but n/a the car would love a set of 4:10's

u will also pick up around .5 seconds or better once u get the thing tuned, well in ur case u bought a megasquirt didnt ya, get that installed and start tunning

On the megasquirt, I bought one used of the net, it got here and when i was about to install it it was rattling like a can. I open it up and there are resistors busted off. I was f-ing mad!! I sent the thing back lost my shipping cost. I should have known that 150 bucks for a assembled on was too cheep even if it was used. But i was on a budget and though that it would be fine since the e-bay seller had good dealing on there.

So with the $$ I got back i bought the cam and other stuff for what i just did.

Now im looking into just burning the chips my self since it could cost a little less. Im so tight on money right now it hurts.

I do have basically all the turbo stuff that ill need. I just cant do that till i get this tuning thing set up weather it be burning chips or a real time ECU(megasquirt)

Contact RBob, one of the moderator's on this website. He currently has ECM's that are a direct replacement for your stock ECM, and are designed to handle boost, while doing all of your tuning on the fly (no more chip burning). He is also currently working on the release of his SFI-6, which I am currently waiting for, which would be ideal for you. Here is his website...

Ok project89, i got on a app on a Iphone today and after a few tries i managed a 15.9 in the 1/4 .. lol the horsepower said 118 average. That Hp seemed low as hel* for basically a 16 flat.

But besides that i like the idea of useing that for tuning and seeing progress. I looked at a old design g-tech for like 55 bucks on ebay. Do you think those are some what accurate. I dont have a (smart phone), im a tight wad and i was just using another friends phone for the afternoon.

even the classic old gtechs have been proven to be pretty acurate , but save the 55 bucks and put it twards tunning equipment .

hell if u save that 55 and then save another 65 u can order a megasquirt kit that u can build urself.

u should have posted up when u found the resitor knocked loose in the ms unit u had it would have been easy to fix

Yea i dont know what i was thinking because hel* with the g-tech. I do need to tune first!! I dont know what I was thinking! Im not sure about buying a MS and putting it together.....Id rather have the thing tested and proven it work perfect.

Yea there was 2 resistors broken off and i was mad because the guy that sold it to me said it was perfect. It also was beat up on the case. So i sent it back even though i could have fixed it. Didnt want the whole thing to start falling apart one piece at a time.

Well Am91camaro_RS on here has everthing for buring your own chips, which Ill be buying soon. All id need it to still get a aldl cable, to monitor the car with tunerpro. Which i was gonna get from moates but there close for the holiday. I know this isnt the best route for tuning but itll work and is quite affordible.

I just hope i start to understand the VE tables and so forth. Never knew we had a launch mode on 90-92 camaro. That was intresting!! Ive been reading over the bin and xdf files i have. Some of it makes sence. Although im still a little lost on the VE tables and there meaning since there are 3 of them. And how and why to change the values.

Well i had good intentions of another video but the cameras battery died. So i did tape one but didnt upload it yet, as burnouts are really becoming a problem. So i just threw all the old videos together added music and here they are.

Good stuff! Obviously you have more spare time than I do and know how to use media software. I haven't even learned how to upload a pic yet. Keep the tuning updates coming. Are you using headers or stock manifolds? Cold air intake?

Its got crappy manifolds on it! I cant afford $300 headers....Its got the gutted dual snorkle intake off a 88 camaro on it. Works better then any CAI that anyone sells. no proplem man u did a nice job on those heads for ur first time.

if u think cars are exspensive dont get into guns, i got a deal anda half on that ar10 sniper i paid just a tad over 1700 for it new retial on it was almost 2400.and i only got that deal cause i purchased my gf;s ruger lc9 handgun and the ar15 + a bunch of upgrades all at once

yeah its pretty fun dosent have the range of the 50 cal abrrett i wanted but i can still reach out and touch somone at about 1200 yards with it, had to scratch the 50 cal off my list for now as the cheapest i could find was about 6k

Well those heads would have looked like swiss cheese without your help

Yea those guns are $$$$ but if you got a deal on them thats sweet. I cant shoot anything like that where i live. its a flat as can be out here and houses arent so far apart..not a good spot for rifles.... I just got a ton of shotguns but thats for hunting, really just deer. But its still fun to shoot shi@ up!

lol i doubt they would have been that bad, i think a shotgun is about the only thing i dont have, had a nice winchester 12guage pump but i got rid of it didnt really have a use for it since we can hunt with rifles out here.

one nice thing is all the farmers and cattle hearders will let u on there land to shoot cyotes and they give u like 20-35 bucks for each one u kill on there land

I was looking at the Wilson Urban Combat M4tach 5.56. But it's like $1600. Only $1599 to go...

Guess I'll have to stick with my Savage 22LR semi auto for now.

Can't wait to see that 88 project to completion

3-7 bucks for rounds that were meant to be used in amachine gun, to buy good match type ammo thats actually a lot more accurate, well as accurate as a 50 can be anyways is about 10-12 bucks a round

if i bought a 50bmg press and dies and bought surplus components i could load my own for about 2-2.50 a round but the press and die set alone will run u a grand

yeah i cant wait to get all my projects finished up after i finish up the other v6 build i have a silverado that needs a pair of hairdryers
